Is this day care?
No. Our programs are academic pre-school programs that prepare children for their future educational years ahead.
Does my child have to be toilet trained to attend the program?
Yes. We are licensed by the State of NJ to begin at 2 ½, and your child must be completely toilet-trained.
Do you conduct background checks on staff?
Yes. We conduct criminal background checks, reference checks, as well as fingerprint, each staff member. We also run background and reference checks on our program volunteers as well.
What do you do when schools are closed?
When schools are closed due to inclement weather, our program is closed. However, during scheduled holiday breaks, we offer vacation camp or extended day programs. Flyers are available several weeks before scheduled closings.
Should I call if my child will be absent or there will be a change in schedule?
Yes. Please notify your site director or call our office if you anticipate any change in your child's attendance.
Do I need to re-register for each school year and/or for each new program?
Yes. Please complete the appropriate forms before the start of each new program.
Are the head teachers certified?
Yes. They have completed all YMCA trainings and certifications necessary for the State of NJ, Bureau of Licensing; as well as annual CPR and First Aid certifications.
If my child does not attend the program, will I get a refund?
Our YMCA annual membership fee is non-refundable, however monthly tuition will be pro-rated.
Does my child need to bring anything to school?
Yes. You should provide an extra set of clothes for your preschooler in case of an emergency. We will provide snack for your child, however you must provide lunch. Please do not send glass containers or candy. We encourage healthy foods and drinks.
Where should I pick up and return the registration packet?
You may pick up and return all completed materials to our YMCA office at 138 Drs. James Parker Blvd. in Red Bank. Please do not take the packet or payments to the individual school offices.
Is transportation provided?
No. Parent/guardian must transport your child to and from the site.
What is the staff to child ratios?
Our preschool ratio is 1:8 and school-age ratio is 1:12.
Is there a second child discount?
No, however if you are having financial constraints you may apply for our YCares financial assistance.
